Teenage Gift Guide 2023

For the first year I’ve done a teenagers gift guide. As a huge gamer, gadget lover and pop culture and tech nerd myself I feel like I’ve got a pretty good grip on teenage gifts. Check them out and scroll to the bottom to win a bundle of delicious popcorn for your teen.. or for you. No judgement!

Gadgets

A Mini Fridge for the Bedroom

Save your teen from the horrors of having to walk all the way down stairs to get a cold drink, and score fantastic parent-points. A well hydrated teen is a happy teen after all. This Russel Hobbs Mini Cooler is portable which means you can take it out on a day out too, and it’s under £30 on Amazon, so won’t break the bank.

A Portable Powerbank

Giving your teens a powerbank will please both them and you, they can’t complain that their phone ran out of charge and they couldn’t let you know if they carry a power bank around with them. In the past power banks were quite chunky and awkward to carry around, but new iterations are much more practical. My advice when shopping for a power bank would be to look at the weight and size of it as for 1 spare charge you don’t need that high a mAH. I’m a big fan of this INUI Portable charger as it’s very slim and light weight, and has a fast charge ability.

Nostalgic yet modern – Bluetooth Record Player

Merge retro with the modern with a bluetooth record player. It pairs with smartphones, tablets or PCs and can be connected to speakers for a higher quality sound. You can listen with headphones or not, and it comes in a carry case so it can be taken anywhere. It’s a great way to give old records a new lease of life and looks amazing.

Portable Speaker

There are a lot of portable speakers out there, but for your teenager this Christmas, I recommend the Sony SRS-XB13. It has extra bass and in my opinion is one of the highest quality sounds from a portable speaker. It’s also waterproof so your teen can listen to it in the shower, whilst outside or camping etc.

3d Printing Pen

For the artistic teen check out this 3D Printing Pen. It allows you to create, draw, doodle and build in 3d. It’s a pretty cool concept and very easy to user. The filament is also relatively inexpensive. You could pair it with a few products that your teen can decorate, like a plain flowerpot holder or vase that they can decorate with the pen.

Rocketbook Reusable Digital Notebook

The Rocketbook Reusable Digital Notebook is amazing! You write in the notebook and then using the app all your notes are digitized forever. No paper is wasted and no artwork is ever lost or damaged. This is ideal for any teenager, whether they’re more analytical and into maths and science and want to make notes for their homework or next project, or for creative teenagers where you can draw, doodle and write to your hearts content.

The IMO Q5 – A New Phone That Won’t Break the Bank

The IMO Q5 is an Android Smartphone that won’t break the bank. It’s small and very lightweight, but still has a HD IPS Display screen for watching videos and playing games in high definition. It has dual rear cameras at 13MP and 0.3MP, Face Unlock, 16GB Memory and more. The best part is it’ll set you back less than £70 at Tesco Mobile. It really offers exceptional value.

Gaming Gifts

Something you might not know about me is I’m a huge gamer. I might not be a teenager, but I guarantee we want some of the same gifts for Christmas. Gaming gifts are not just for boys, gamer girls like me have been around for decades! One of my top tips for buying gamer gifts is to ask yourself the following questions:

  • What type of platform do they play on? For example Xbox, Playstation, PC, Nintendo Switch, etc.
  • What brands do they already have?
  • What is their favourite game?

These three questions will help narrow it down and make sure you buy the right gift. You want to make sure your gaming gifts work with the platform they play on. No point buying a Playstation game for someone who plays on PC for example. If they already have a preferred brand such as SteelSeries, Corsair or Razer, then buying peripherals (keyboard, controller, mouse, headset) then most gamers will prefer something that matches so this helps narrow your purchase down. Finally, if they have a favourite game such as Call of Duty, Minecraft, Rocket League, League of Legends and so on, then buying a gift that relates to that game, including fun accessories, is bound to be a hit. I’ll cover these categories briefly for you with some ideas, but don’t be afraid to search around for something that matches the teenager you’re buying for.

The Ultimate Gaming Gift – A New Console

For PC players this year you might consider the ultimate gift in the form of the Steam Deck. This ground breaking handheld console connects to the players Steam library, but can also play many games outside of Steam. It’s the tiniest portable PC ever and for those who already own games on Steam it means you don’t need to buy the game again to play it – unlike other consoles. If they’re more of a console gamer you’ve got the big contenders this year all offering special editions. For example there’s the new Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch, the limited edition Spider-Man 2 PS5, and the Starfield bundle for Xbox Series. If this is your teenagers first console and you’re not sure what to buy, see if you can figure out what consoles their friends play on. Whilst some games are cross platform, a lot of multiplayer games require the gamer to be on the same console. So if all their friends have Playstations then that’s what you want to go for. If there’s no friend activity to consider, I think the Xbox consoles offer an amazing games pass (compatible with both PC and Xbox) offering brand new release games and a huge library of older games for £12.99/month.

Decorate the Desk

I love this Titanwolf RGB Galaxy Mouse Mat, it’s big enough for a full size keyboard and mouse with plenty of extra space on either side, or to use with a laptop, tablet or bluetooth Keyboard. It fits a space theme perfectly as well. If you’re interested in the extra Decor for a Star Wars fan, the pencil pot holder (also a very cute plant pot!) to the side is Paladone’s R2D2 holder, and the cute tiny glass globe is a Planet Night Light.

Talking about Star Wars fans, I love this Star Wars mug from Card Factory, who have loads of fabulous Christmas Gifts available for 2023. Whatever your teenager is into, getting them a themed mug is bound to be a big hit, and continue the theme with a calendar above the desk. This is the 2024 Minecraft Calendar from Danilo, who stock a massive range of calendars and diaries.

A New Keyboard and Mouse

I love this pink Trust Gaming FXT Felox Gaming Mouse. It’s perfect for any girl’s bedroom and would go well with any keyboard. It’s got RGB lighting and programmable buttons for gaming or shortcuts. It’s really comfortable to use too.

Keyboard wise I recommend this SteelSeries Apex 7. We’ve got two in the house right now. In my opinion it’s the best full sized mechanical keyboard on the market, so if you have a teenager who does a lot of typing or gaming, this keyboard is going to be an amazing gift.
