Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2024

Mother’s Day this year is on 10th March 2024 – get that date in your calendar, book those yummy sunday roasts, fantastic afternoon teas and family visits. Mother’s Day is a really important day of the year for me as it’s something I never expected to experience as a mother, making it all the more sweet and a cherished reminder of how lucky I am to be a mum. I also get to celebrate my own mother, with new found appreciation for her since having a child myself. The best gift of all is just your time, appreciation and love – but a gift will always be appreciated! I’ve put together some new and exciting gifts for mum’s this year… but if something takes your fancy on this list, treat yourself! You deserve it.

Food, delicious food

Support a local business and get an afternoon tea delivered. For those in Cardiff I can highly recommend Sue Franks Catering who have done some amazing afternoon tea boxes for me, including a gluten free box for myself and a child’s afternoon tea for my son. You can also get cheese platters and grazing boxes. If you’re not in Cardiff then I don’t have a personal recommendation, but I know there are lots of small independent businesses out there who thrive off your business. Having afternoon tea at home – or a picnic (weather pending!) is a nice alternative to going out to a busy restaurant.

Or how about an amazing cake, or set of cupcakes delivered. Lola’s cupcakes do delicious cakes, cupcakes and brownies and have an awesome Mother’s Day collection which also includes bundles with flowers. It’s all safely delivered by post and I particularly appreciate that a Free From cupcake range is available, to include mum’s who have dietary restrictions such as gluten free and there are vegan options / dairy free too!

Any chocolate fan would love this Green & Black’s Mother’s Day Chocolate Basket. Not only is it choc-full of delicious organic goodies, it also comes in an extremely stylish and high quality black wicker hamper, which can be re-used for storage, gifts and picnics once the chocolate has run out. Green & Black’s also do a variety of personalised chocolate bars which would make thoughtful gifts.

Drink, Glorious Drink

This is my favourite mug. It’s absolutely adorable, sturdy and good to drink all sorts of hot drinks from. I mostly use it for hot chocolate, but whether your mum is a tea or coffee drinker, she’ll love it. And best of all it’s available on Amazon for less than £10, so perfect for a well thought out budget gift.

You could also pair this gift with a delicious coffee and hot chocolate gift set. With 9 different flavours of coffee and 9 flavours of hot chocolate, this is a lot of treats for mum! If you scroll down to the bottom of the page I also have a competition to win this coffee and hot chocolate gift set, which you can give to your mum… or just treat yourself.

Category Is: Cocktails! is a collection of 60 different cocktails and zero-proof drinks inspired by drag legends. This is a bright, quirky and fun book, with a new take on cocktail recipes that is refreshing to see (and taste!). The illustrations are wonderfully vibrant and the instructions are simple to follow even if you’ve not made a cocktail before. It’s available from all good booksellers and is priced at £12.99. A cocktail making night with mum would be a fantastic way to spend time together.

An upgrade for the kitchen would be a well received gift. I’m loving this Cream & Wood Kettle and Toaster set, so sleek, minimalistic but stylish and functional. The wood really pops! If that doesn’t suit, Vonhaus have a massive range of kitchen items and they’re a brand that I’ve found extremely consistent over the last few years. I have electrics with them from my kitchen blender and stand mixer, to outdoor items like my lawnmower and my BBQ, so you’re definitely going to find a gift that works for you.

Self-care and pampering for mum

My first self-care recommendation is going to be Grace & Stella. I’ve only just discovered this vegan, cruelty-free skincare and beauty company, but I’m already impressed. I’ve had chance to use a variety of their products as featured above, and every single one has impressed me. Gift Mum a Mother’s Day pampering bundle so she can enjoy things like eye masks, feet masks, body lotions and amazing rainbow bath bombs to relax! The bath bombs have to be one of my favourite bath products I’ve tried out so far, period. So many bath bombs aimed at adults are quite boring, whereas kids have all the fun! Grace & Stella’s rainbow bath bombs are run, but also moisturising and relaxing. I will definitely be buying more.

For my next self-care recommendation I’d like to introduce you to Aviela. This is a natural skincare range which uses ethically sourced, 100% highest grade unrefined pure Shea Butter as the main ingredient. My recommendation from Aviela would be The Indulgence Kit, which contains African Shea Black Soap and pure Shea Body Butter. This is a deeply exfoliating and moisturising kit that has left my skin feel so refreshed, clean and natural. This Shea Butter is like magic, it really has made my skin look so much more healthier and given me a natural glow.

Another beauty gift I’d like to suggest is from Evolve Organic Beauty. They have a large number of skincare, body and hair products, so you’re bound to be able to find something, but my personal recommendation is The Hydration Heroes gift box which is beautifully presented and ready to gift to mum. It comes with Hyaluronic serum and Hyaluronic eye complex and will help hydrate your skin and plump up fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eye area. It’s scented with organic Rosewater, and smells absolutely amazing. Evolve Organic Beauty is an independent company, started in 2009, to focus on skincare made with natural and organic ingredients.

My next beauty introduction is one you’ve no doubt heard of as they’re one of the biggest names in Beauty, Olay. Olay offers something for everyone, no matter what your budget or your skin concerns. They have some amazing gift sets available right now, including the Project Protect Giftset (Available from Boots & Amazon). I love this giftset as it gets you ready for spring and summer with the SPF30 Vitamin C Moisturizer, whilst also offering you Retinol 24 Night Cream and Hyaloruonic 24 Vitamin B5 for eyes. If you’re not sure what type of skin your gift recipient has, try doing the quiz over on Olay.co.uk to find out!

My final beauty gift suggestion for Mother’s Day is going to be the BEAUTYPRO Hydratest. This neat little device is a skin analysis, it measures your skin’s hydration and your oil levels. This helps you know exactly what your skin needs so you know what skincare products to use. As we get older our skin levels can change with hormones and diet changes and sometimes it can be hard to know if what we’re doing is the most effective, especially with all the amazing skincare options out there these days. This gift will help mum know exactly what her skin needs and how to use products most effectively. BEAUTYPRO also sell a wide range of body care, eye marks, sheet masks, serums and other skincare products. Pairing it with a gift certificate would be wonderful.

Get in the Garden

For mums who like to garden, this Gardening Gift Set is amazing – it comes with a trowel and fork for planting, a pair of sturdy but also beautiful flower patterned gardening gloves, rose hand cream, and a candle, so she can relax after working in the garden.

To help mum water the flowers in her garden, take a look at the Qwickhose Universal Connector. The photo shown is the starter set with wall mount, but a range of different shaped nozzles and connectors are available to suit any hose. It’s really easy to use. This is something I’ve needed for ages – my hose connector is forever popping off or needing tightening, leaking and wasting water. This award winning, UK manufactured connector has a wing-lock design unlike anything on the market. If mum uses a hose in the garden then she’d benefit from this upgrade!

I hope this gift guide has given you some ideas for what to buy your mum for Mother’s Day 2024 – or perhaps just a well deserved treat for yourself! Have a lovely day.
