Family Events this Easter Holidays 2022 in Cardiff and South Wales

This year Easter break in Wales is Monday 11th April until Friday 22nd April. Good Friday falls on 15th April, Easter Sunday on 17th April, and Bank Holiday Monday on 18th April. I’ve put together this guide of family friendly events this Easter Holidays in Cardiff and South Wales – and events that are within about an hour from Cardiff. As always my guides are subject to change, are frequently updated and you should always double check the details with the event provider’s Facebook page or website before travel to avoid disappointment.

Events are ordered in starting date order.

Happy Easter Disco @ Penyrheol Community Centre, Caerphilly (Fri 8th April)

Caerphilly Mascots and Events are running an Easter Disco from 5:30pm on Fri 8th April . Children £4, Adults £1. Book tickets.

Easter Chocolate Making Workshop @ The Royal Mint Experience (Sat 9th – Fri 15th April)

The Royal Mint Experience have partnered with Chocolate House to offer a fun chocolate-making experience for kids, decorating an egg-shaped brownie, making a chocolate lollipop and designing their own Easter biscuit. More information.

Easter Fun @ Greenmeadow Community Farm (Sat 9th – Sun 24th April)

Visit Greenmeadow Community Farm over Easter for lots of Easter Fun including Cuddle Corner, Tractor and Trailer Rides, Candling and Handling Chicks, Goat play, Grooming the Ponies and Donkeys and more. See Facebook page.

Easter @ The Meadows Farm Village (Sat 9th – Sun 24th April)

Easter at The Meadows Farm Village (previously Playworks) will include meeting the Easter bunny, Easter Egg trail, Easter prize, craft activities and marhmallow toasting, in addition to all their usual experiences. Book now on their website.

Easter Events @ Mumbles Pier (Sat 9th – Sun 18th April)

There are various events running at Mumbles Pier which you can book online. Includes free Easter trail and chocolate egg, a visit to the Easter Bunny burrow and crafting, as well as specific dates which have Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Beach Hunt too.

Easter Family Trails @ Bristol Zoo and Wild Place Project (Sat 9th – Sun 24th April)

Visit Bristol Zoo or the Wild Place Project this Easter to find giant eggs to discover. There’ll be stickers for everyone who takes part, as well as potential prizes such as an annual pass! This is on top of all the amazing animals, feeds, talks and playgrounds that are available at both sites. Bristol Zoo closes permanently after Saturday September 3rd, so this is a great opportunity to visit before it closes. I’ll be visiting Wild Place Project on the first weekend the trail is open, so I’ll have some photos and my personal thoughts to share that week.

Easter Afternoon TeaRUN and TeaWALK @ St Brigid’s Church, Llanishen (Sun 10th April)

A 5 mile run or walk includes tasty Easter treats and ends with an afternoon tea box. Fancy dress encouraged. Donation of £15 per person with the money being fundraised for Seeds for the Future. See the EventBrite page for more information.

Beddau & Tynant Spring Fair @ Beddau, Pontypridd (Sun 10th April)

This Spring Fair held on Woodland Road in Beddau will have an Easter Egg hunt in Robin’s Wood, with a guest appearance from the Easter Bunny, Nature Walk, Craft stalls, car boot sales, refreshments and more. Advance tickets to attend aren’t needed, but you do need to buy a ticket if you want to have a stall or car boot sale. More information here, or from Beddau Library.

Easter Eggstravaganza @ Gower Fresh Christmas Trees (Mon 11th – Mon 18th April)

You can buy tickets for £9.95 children or £1 adults at Gower Fresh Christmas Trees for the Easter Trail with Kids entertainment, interactive Characters, meet the Easter Bunny, Fun fair and craft stalls. There are also separate ticket bookings for craft workshops such as Pompom Flower Head Banks, Easter Animal Keyrings and Easter Basket Decorating.

The Big Easter Event @ Amelia Trust Farm (Mon 11th – Thur 14th April)

As well as the animal, woodland walks and play park there will be an Easter trail with chocolate prize, free face panting, free tractor rides and lawn games for this Easter event. See their Facebook page for more info.

Easter Egg Hunt @ Role Play Lane Pontrypridd (Mon 11th, Wed 13th, Fri 15th April)

On Monday 11th, Wed 13th and Fri 15th Role Play Lane will be hosting Easter Egg Hunts in addition to their usual play equipment. Book tickets.

Easter Egg Hunt @ Whitchurch Hub (Mon 1th April)

This free event at Whitchurch Hub includes an Easter Egg Hunt in the Library Park! More information.

Easter Rock Painting @ St John’s Ambulance Hall, Nixonville, Merthyr Vale (Tue 12th April)

Free-style rock painting workshops are available with rocks, pens, guidance and lacquering provided. Refreshments available. For more information see their Eventbrite page.

Easter Bunny Dance Party @ Talbot Green Community Centre (Thu 14th April)

Join the Easter Bunny for a dancy party with activities, face painting and Easter Egg. £8 per child. Parents / Guardians go free. Fancy dress encouraged. See their EventBrite page for more details.

Matt’s Annual Easter Party @ Blaenrhondda Social Club (Fri 18th April)

Matt Langley’s Entertainment are hosting an Easter party. Meet the Easter Bunny as well as other famous characters, and receive a free Easter Egg too. More information.

The Big Museum Easter Trail @ National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans Museum, National Waterfront Museum, Big Pit National Coal Museum (on Fri 15th – Mon 18th April)

Become an Easter Detective, crack the code and get a treat! £3.50 per trail and includes a colour trail with craft activity and chocolate treat with dairy free option. More information on their website. The same trail takes place at all the different museums but the locations will be different!

Easter Fun @ Caerphilly Castle (Fri 15th April – Mon 18th April)

There will be Easter Activities over Easter Weekend at Caerphilly Castle including Easter Egg Hunt and card-making. More details.

Easter Fun and Meet the Marchers @ Tretower Court and Castle (Fri 15th- Mon 18th April)

Easter Fun will include a trail from Rhys Rabbit all weekend, whilst only on Saturday, Sunday and Monday will you be able to Meet the Marchers and see what day to day life was like in the 17th century

Easter Disco @ Caerphilly Crossways Brewers Fayre (Sat 16th April)

This Disco takes play in the restaurant play area and includes an Easter Egg hunt, party games, fancy dress competition and more! More information.

Easter Lunch and Egg Hunt @ The Aubrey Arms, Bonvilston (Sat 16th April)

The Aubrey Arms are hosting an Easter Disco with egg hunt, meet the Easter Bunny, games and it includes lunch as well! More information on Facebook.

Joust & Dino Experience @ Fonmon Castle, Rhoose (Sat 16th – Mon 18th April)

Fonmon Castle will have displays including archery, medieval combat, jousting, magic displays, dino rangers, owls and more! Find more information and Book tickets.

Easter Egg Hunt @ Bryngarw Country Park, Bridgend (Sat 16th – Sun 17th April)

Easter Fun Day @ Glamorgan Wanderer’s Ely, raising money for #HelpForHarri (Sat 16th April)

This fun day at Glamorgan Wanderer’s Football club includes bouncy castle, inflatable slide, easter egg hunt, mascots, stalls, raffles and more. Entry fee is £1 and all money goes towards the #HelpForHarri charity fund. See Facebook page for more information

Easter Egg Hunt @ Cardiff Riding School (Sat 16th& Sun 17th April).

The Friends of Cardiff Ridng School are holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th April across the 40acres of land belonging to the stable. You’ll get to meet some horses and ponies along the one! Advance tickets needed, more information here.

Easter Disco @ AIM Sports Academy (Sat 16th Apr)

Aim Sports Academy have two Easter Discos running, suitable for age 0-6 or ages 7+. There’ll be a disco, eeaster egg hunt, inflatable slide and games. Find out more here.

Easter Weekend at Newport Transporter Bridge, Newport (Sat 16th – Mon 18th April)

This event is running on Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th and Monday 18th April from 10am to 4pm and includes gondola access, Easter Egg hunt and family activities. Tickets start from £3.83. For more information see their EventBrite page.

April Abseil @ Wales Millenium Centre (Sun 17th – Mon 18th April)

On Sunday 17th and Monday 18th young people aged 12+ will be able to scale and abseil down the walls of the iconic building and it’s totally free! Be aware you must register by 31st March to take part.

Superhero Spectacular @ Margam Country Park (Mon 18th April)

Easter Party @ The Green Lady, Caerphilly (Mon 18th April)

Visit The Green Lady in Caerphilly for an Easter party with Easter egg hunt, games, prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny. More information on Facebook.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit @ The Royal Mint Experience (Mon 18th – Thu 21st April)

    Ooo lots of cool stuff happening for spring & Easter! I had no idea there was ever or would ever be abseiling down the Millennium Centre. Not sure I have the stomach for something like that but I love the idea of it (or at least watching others have a go)!
