Bringing A Rustic Touch To Your Home

From the country to coastal living, rustic decor is popular among many different homeowners. The thing about rustic decorating styles is that they can be difficult to execute correctly because of their complexity and difficulty in finding certain pieces for your home. Here are some great tips on how you can add a beautiful rustic touch to your home!

Stone Fireplace

One of a home’s most popular and rustic features is a stone fireplace. A well-made and rustic stone fireplace can be the centrepiece of any room in your house and can really set the tone for the rest of the decor. If you don’t have a natural stone fireplace, there are many ways to fake it with faux finishes and stonework. Make sure that if you are going to use a faux finish, that it is high-quality so that it looks as real as possible. Cheaply made faux finishes will look like just that – cheap!

Add Wooden Furniture

Adding wooden furniture to your home is a great way to add rustic charm. Wooden chairs, tables and bookshelves are always popular choices for adding that country style touch to any room in the house. Make sure when you’re shopping for these pieces that they have an element of handmade quality; it really does make all the difference!

If you don’t want real wood because it may be difficult to find or expensive, many wood alternatives are available to create a similar look. These can range from painted finishes on metal cabinet hardware, substitutes made with resin. Either type will look beautiful in your rustic styled home!

Incorporate Weathered Metal Finishes

Adding weathered metal finishes to your rustic decor is a great way to add some shine and contrast. Metallics are always popular in home decor, but they can be especially beautiful when used in rustic spaces. For example, try incorporating hammered copper pots on the kitchen stovetop or an antique brass chandelier in the dining room.

You can also use metallic paint finishes on furniture and walls to create a really luxurious look. Just make sure that you select a colour that will complement the other colours and textures in your space.

Replacing other components in your home with rustic looking metal finishes can help you achieve your ideal look, whether this means using rustic lipped brackets for shelves or weathered light switches and fittings. You really have the freedom to use aspects that suit your personal taste.

Shop For Rugs With Rustic Colours

When looking for rustic decor, it’s important to find pieces with colours that are inspired by nature. This means incorporating deep reds, oranges and yellows, and shades of green and brown. Rugs are a great way to add these natural colours to your home, and they can be a real focal point in any room.

When you’re shopping for rugs, ensure that you select styles that will fit with the other furnishings in your space. It’s also important to consider the size of the rug – you don’t want it to be too small or too large. If you have a lot of open floor space, go for a big rug; if not, try something smaller that will still make an impact.

In conclusion, you can easily add a rustic touch to your home by using these simple tips! With just a few changes, you can create an inviting and stylish space that will make you feel right at home.

We’re just in the process of decorating our hallway at the moment, so far I’ve said to paint it white and then add ALL the colour (I’m going to do the same with the other rooms too!)
