Best Family Halloween Movies and Shows on Amazon Prime 2019

Halloween is fast approaching and if you’ve got kids (or prefer a more casual viewing affair) then you can get in the mood with these family halloween movies and shows. This list is for those available on Amazon Prime, but I’ve also compiled a list of family friendly Halloween content on Netflix UK.

The links in the titles will take you to the main page on Amazon. From here you can click “Watch Now” to watch it with Amazon Prime, or if you’re compiling a list for later then click “Add to watchlist” and it’ll be saved for quick browsing when the kids are ready to settle down for some family Halloween movies.

All the Halloween themed family movies and shows in this list were free to watch for Amazon Prime subscribers in October 2019.

1. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005)

Family Halloween Movie: The Corpse Bride on Amazon Prime

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride is PG rated and suitable for older children. It doesn’t have graphic content, but some younger children may find the art style and the concept of living corpses too creepy. It has a running time of 1 hour 17 minutes.

3. The Gruffalo (1999)

This enchanting story tells the popular children’s book “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson. It’s 27 minutes long and perfect for the entire family.

4. Monster House (2006)

Family Halloween Movie: Monster House on Amazon Prime

In this PG rated movie, teenagers discover that their neighbours house is a Monster House and have to work together to save the neighbourhood! Although rated PG I personally think this is suitable for a wide range of ages but check out some footage of the house when it’s alive as that’s the scariest imagery in my opinion. Running time 1 hour 30 minutes.

5. Room on the Broom (2013)

Room on the Broom is suitable for the whole family and follows the well loved children’s book by Julia Donaldson. It’s only 27 minutes long so a perfect amount of time for a younger audience, but can be enjoyed by all ages. Fans of this will also love The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child which are both also available free on Amazon Prime.

6. Monsters vs Aliens (2009)

Family Halloween Movie: Monsters vs Aliens on Amazon Prime

Susan Murphy is struck by a meteor and finds herself 50 feet tall. Captured by the government, she lives in a secret compound where she makes new friends and gets a new mission. When Alien’s attack, they are called upon to save the world! This is a PG rated movie but is animated and suitable for younger audiences, although it does have some explosions and themes that may be scary to young children. It has a running time of 1 hour 35m.

7. Revolting Rhymes (2016)

This is a two part series (29 minutes each) based on the book by Roald Dahl. It offers a mischievous twist on the classic fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella. It’s rated PG, but I think will be suitable for most ages.

8. The Dancing Pumpkin and the Ogre’s Plot (2017)

This cute animated short (45 minutes run time) is rated for ages 7+. As the title suggests, it’s about a Dancing Pumpkin who teams up with a young boy to thwart an evil ogre’s plot. I

9. Goosebumps (2015)

Family Halloween Movie: Goosebumps on Amazon Prime

Goosebumps is PG rated and is more suitable for older children and teenagers, as demon’s from a horror writers mind come to life, and teenagers must team up to defeat them and save the town. Running time is 1hour 43 minutes.

10. Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (2011)

For my tenth and final addition to the list of family friendly movies and shows on Amazon Prime, it’s Scooby-Doo! There are two seasons of the 2011 series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated included in your Amazon Prime description and they are well worth a watch. Rated Universal, the whole family can enjoy watching this group of pesky solve mysteries and catch bad guys. Episode one starts at the most haunted town in the world, so a perfect Halloween cartoon!

Want something spooky this Halloween that's suitable for the whole family? Here's a selection of movies and shows worth watching on Amazon Prime.
