I can’t believe Ivy is already over a year old! We went into lockdown here in the UK just a few weeks after I picked her up which certainly added an unexpected challenge to puppyhood – and now she’s one gigantic puppy, a member of the family and a loving companion who deserves to be spoiled.
This month she was gifted a spectacular new collar from Finnigan’s Play Pen. Finnigan’s Play Pen makes custom and personalised collars, leads and engraved name tags, as well as harnesses, accessories and pet clothing.. The fabrics that are on offer are unique and well chosen designs. There are some wonderfully bright and colourful options, which suits my style and I think Ivy’s personality too!

As a German Shepherd, I went for a large collar which fits a neck from 38-60cm, so it’s a pretty good range and plenty of room to grow if she gets any bigger. It’s worth noting though that since these collars are hand-made to order, you can leave a note if you need a different size and they’ll make a custom size for you – very handy if you have a dog with a particularly large or small neck size.
The design I went for was Finnigan No 6L which as you can see, is very bright and cheerful. It really pops and stands out against her coat and the splash of colour makes me smile. Talking of smiling – Ivy always is! She’s such a happy and cheerful dog, unless you’re the post man.

The collar comes with a sturdy clasp which you can have engraved with your pets details as well. The engraving was perfect, very easy to read, and gives me peace of mind should her name tag get damaged or fall off.
Naturally if you own a dog you understand the woes of winter weather. Ivy is a muddy pup, she certainly doesn’t hesitate to jump into water or roll around in puddles. She has to be bathed pretty much every single walk in the winter. The collar has stood up well to being hand washed.

If you’re looking for a new collar for your canine companion, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Finnigan’s Play Pen for a high quality, personal collar in an array of fabrics you simply won’t find at a pet shop.
