International holidays are always something to look forward to, but how much of the UK have you actually explored? With just a little digging, we’re confident that the UK can rival the world’s wonders, and Cardiff — the capital of Wales — is no exception.
With a beautiful coastline and rich history, the city has a range of luxurious experiences just waiting for you to explore. So what are you waiting for? To see what Cardiff has to offer, keep reading below.
1. St. David’s Hotel & Spa
Of course, one of the very first things you’ll want to arrange is accommodation, and thankfully, St. David’s Hotel and Spa is a perfect combination for the ideal place to stay and one of the magnificent sights to see in Cardiff.
Can you imagine anything better than stepping off your private jet charter and walking into a beautiful five-star hotel? The location of St. David’s is simply stunning — situated on the waterfront side of Cardiff Bay, which gives you incredible views of the city skyline.
As if that wasn’t relaxing enough, the hotel boasts a luxury spa and indoor pool, which will be a great way to wind down once you’ve returned from exploring places such as Mermaid Quay and the Wales Millenium Centre, which are only a 10-minute walk away.
2. Cardiff Bay Boat Ride
Just outside the hotel, one of the first activities we’d recommend you partake in is taking a boat from Cardiff Bay to Bute Park — now home to one of Wales’ first drive-thru Popeyes.
Not only is the journey scenic, but it’s also a great way to get around the city and make sure that you explore Cardiff as thoroughly as possible, stopping at as many places as you can.
Even if you don’t want to use the cruise as just a form of transportation, the entire journey lasts about an hour, and the tour guides are more than happy to point out the beautiful sites along the way with running commentary so that your history knowledge is all up to date.
3. Bute Park
On the other end of the cruise, the beautiful Bute Park awaits you. It is situated right next to Cardiff Castle (which can be your next stop) and next to the National Museum of Cardiff, making it a convenient spot to stop off for a short midday break.
Bute Park’s size is phenomenal, and we wouldn’t be surprised if you couldn’t cover the entirety of the park in a single day. It comprises many different gardens, playing fields, cafes and plenty of walking and cycling paths. This park will surely keep a nature lover well- occupied for many hours.
A bike ride in Bute Park on a sunny day is a fond memory you’ll remember for sure, so we would strongly recommend that you take the opportunity if possible. Whether alone or with the family, it is an activity for everyone.
4. The Celtic Manor Resort
Dubai isn’t the only place in the world with five-star resorts! Located just outside the city, the Celtic Manor Resort takes luxury to another level.
Spanning across 2000 acres of Welsh countryside, Celtic Manor features several restaurants, a spa and not three championship-worthy golf courses — making the resort every golfer’s dream. With breathtaking views to admire outside of every window, the countryside is truly the epitome of relaxation, and we’re sure you’ll come out of there feeling like a whole new person.
5. Cardiff Market
To truly experience Welsh culture, one of the most lavish spots we can recommend you visit throughout Cardiff has to be Cardiff Market, right in the heart of it all.
Opened in 1891, Cardiff Market is known to carry the best Welsh cakes you can’t find anywhere else in the world and rows of independent sellers of food and other quaint items. The charm of Cardiff Market is truly unbeatable.
Although there is plenty to buy and see, the food is probably one of the top-selling points of Cardiff Market, and with so much to try, we recommend that you come back the next day to ensure you’ve given everything a go. Who knows, you might discover your next favourite snack!
